Seeds RP

Upper City

Finally, after what seemed an eternity, the soldiers could see the familiar walls of the Rice institute. They were home.

The truck pulled around the building to the military barracks in Lab 5. The hatch opened and for the first time in years, Dryson felt sunlight on his face. True, it wasn't bright due to the rain, but it was still day. His mind did not register the sensation though, for it was too lost within his own world. They unloaded his motionless body onto a gurney and strapped him down like an asylum patient in case he awakened. He was then rolled into the doors of Seed Hell.

Ezi ignored the other seeds attempt at his attention, too lost in his own contemplations. The order told him to relinquish command of the fugitive seed to that other commander. "But it didn't say I couldn't follow. Those other seeds are long gone now, I won't be able to find that one woman, that one of the older generations had been following. But I won't lose credit for this capture." Ezi clicked on his comm device once again. "Puck, get in here, we need to go and now. If you want anything for capturing that seed you...incapacitated, we need to go now." Ezi then waited as the rest of his men cam piling into the vehicle. "You there, acquire the unit number for the commander and men dispatched to this area and then look up the tracking number that accompanies the vehicle they are using. Then have their location displayed to me on GPS on the screen." Ezi said pointing at Lenna.

Eeonus was crawling, concentrating as hard as possible on the actual sensations. The cold slimy pavement, slicked with falling water..."I didn't know this was what rain felt like. It is strange, it smells bad." Having no reason to allow seeds outside, in the small amount of time they have ever been giving to spend outside in a quarantined courtyard, during the rain, Eeonus had never felt it, and can't identify the sensation to realize that it was actually the runoff from the upper level, falling down upon him. He focused once more on the shaded person in front of him, crawling towards her as she conferred with some unseen being. All he knew was that she said something about meds, and that would motivate him to jump off a cliff at this point. Taking deep long breaths with eyes closed trying not to feel as his flesh told him, lying as it was, that it was being eaten by insects.

Hearing the younger Seed over his comm device Puck sneered to himself. Humph, still giving orders. Too bad he didn't get shot in his arrogant face. Puck made a mental note to shoot Ezi himself later. He then brought his hand up to the comm device and responded coldly. "Heard." Puck was about two miles from where the platoon was, so it would take him two jumps to get back. Puck was feeling sick, but refused to admit to it, especially since he was going to see his undeserving squad leader. The seventh gen had jumped so much today, and used so much energy, however he never carried with him any medications, because that showed his imperfection to all. Puck did his first jump and arrived in the Lower city. He lurched over, his hand grasping at the old, broken parking meter in front of him, and puked. He wiped his face and spit until the taste was gone. Puck suddenly gained back his manic grin, for it finally registered that the prisoner was his capture. He would finally get the glory that he deserved. Puck started laughing to himself, quietly at first, but soon turning to an all out roar. Puck blinked a second time and arrived around the corner from where the shuttle was. He puked again, his stomach lurching violently and painfully. Puck's uniform and face had blood spatter and now puke on it. The gray camouflage of his uniform hid some of it but it was still noticeable. The soldier wiped his mouth and chin with his sleeve and hoisted his precious Maria over his shoulder. That wide serial grin present on his face, he walked out into the street and toward his fellow institute slaves.

Addy's eyebrow went up as she suddenly began to feel the strangest sensations flooding her brain. Her eyes told her that a bedraggled seedling was crawling towards her, but her empathy, sickening as it was, told her that he was crawling with insects, her flesh tingled where the phantom legs touched her. Whimpering slightly she took steps away from him, trying desperately to keep her distance from him and his unnerving illness. "Hurry UP, Myles, you stupid fuck..." She clutched at her stomach and tried to keep from vomiting as her vision swirled around her, his proximity making her sick.

Myles and his team were indeed hurrying. They fled through the disgusting sludge of the runoff rain, feet splashing through puddles as they ran towards the signal that the comm devices broadcast. They arrived mostly all at the same time despite deliberately taking different paths. Myles took one look at the poor boy with his head hanging like an exhausted horse between his shoulders and lunged forward. He rummaged for mere moments in his bag of tricks before removing a syringe filled with the generic synthetic medication the Doctor had given into Myles' keeping in case of just such emergencies. Pulling off the sterile cap with his teeth and spitting it across the alley, he grasped the Seedling by the upper arm, attempting to gain his attention. "Hold still; this should help. It will make the pain stop."

Addy, her head in her hands, had sunk to her knees with the influx of people. Granted, there were only about three men with Myles, all standing at the ready at the potential entry points to the alley while Myles approache the Seedling. Closing her eyes in a vain attempt to keep their minds out of hers, she wailed, "Get OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!" One of the men approached her and trying to keep his mind blank, reached into the bag that had slipped from her shoulders. He quietly handed her the bottle of tequila. She felt its heft in his hand and it nearly made her cry and blackout at the same time. She ripped it from his fist with a vague grumble that she should shoot him for his audacity, but she chugged half the bottle on the spot, and as the liquor infused her bloodstream and she could think again, she reached for the bottle of pills at the bottom of the bag. Taking two or three - she didn't care to count that thoroughly - she sighed as the sensations around her suddenly began to recede. Father was right, this was a much stronger dose. She almost smiled as the cacophony around her dimmed to the annoying buzz of a mosquito close to the ear. She shook her head, stood upright and glared at the men. "Hurry up. We have to get to Dryson before they kill him." Her voice, ragged and husky, was cold, completely devoid of emotion. Unless of course you counted the rage slowly building in her. The Institute had taken the only family she had. They would pay. Dearly.

Without even giving time for Puck to sit down, as soon as the door could be closed it was, he re-routed manual control to his seat, shut the door, override to safety protocol. Doing a premature launch, he scorched the pavement beneath the vehicle as he took off. Normally the vehicle would create a warming up period, and then launch, without that a large blast of heat emanated, and blew out the windows of the nearby storefront. He jetted right after the other unit, before relinquishing control back to the pilot, for the more detailed flight through the top of upper cities bottom.

Fearful, this implementation of medication was most commonly used to knock him out, which meant nightmares that you couldn't wake up from. He struggled feebly for a moment, but in his exhaustion, and Myles appearing with wings and a halo, he decided he might as well. From the moment his vein was pierced he could feel it working. A physical sort of numbness crept up his arm, and when it hit his heart it spread all throughout his body. Where it went, perhaps the bugs did, or didn't, he couldn't feel them. Once it hit his brain it was as if light itself for a moment had embraced him, before the illusions faded altogether, and he was greeted with the sweet sensation of reality. So powerful was the feeling of relief, and the numbness that crept across him, that he hugged himself in ecstasy running his hands down his sides without feeling any of it. A cross between a moan and a grunt was released as he closed his eyes and just enjoyed it all, before his breathing became deeper and rythmic, as he gave into his fatigue and bliss.

Light. A blinding light before his eye made it impossible for Dryson to see. The room was neither hot nor cold. It smelt sterile and the silence was deafening. He was able to barely make out the faintest sound of dripping and his slow even breathing. He was cognizant enough to know he was laying down. However, something felt...off about his arms. He tried to move them, but to no avail. His legs did not respond correctly either.
His eye was finally able to focus after a few minutes of trying to snap his mind back from dreaming. But there was nothing to look at. The entire room was white except for the silver IV stand on his right. His eyes lazily glanced at the clear bag hanging from it, too blurry to actually make out what was written on it. His only working eye followed the thin tube from the drip bag down to his arm. He suddenly became aware of his hand, and it looked so odd to him for a reason he couldn't fully understand. Slowly moving his fingers into a light fist he realized that, not only was he getting an IV of fluids, but there was also morphine in that bag. He tried to roll over only to be stopped by restraints and the realization that his left arm was in a thick cast, broken from when he had fought Puck in the ally. His head moved drunkenly from side to side. He tried to speak but couldn't find his voice. All he could do was wait.

Addy couldn't think. It was getting to the point that she was just one long ache from head to toe. It seemed the downside to the new medication that Father had given her was that while she was free of others input, she was now free to feel her own bodies gripes. Addy had not had a decent meal in over a week. She was down to about 93 pounds and her stomach was probably one solid ulcer from drinking all that tequila and not much else. Her head hurt from hitting it on various surfaces and she was incredibly tired. She just wanted to sit down and cry. However, that was not an option. Wrapping herself in her old familiar blanket of rage and scorn, she took a swallow of tequila and grimaced as her stomach protested and then moved off quietly away from the crowd of Locusts and the sick Seedling. She would find a sandwich and meet Myles and the rest at the rendezvous point. They had to get Dryson back.

Myles sat back on his heals with a satisfied sigh. "There, that aught to fix you up right. Take it easy there lad, we're here to help. Now, what can you tell me about yourself?" He watched the boy carefully for signs that the medications weren't working or were working adversely. He placed a steadying hand on his shoulder and with the other hand signaled the men to stand back. He didn't know what this one's talents might be. The last thing they needed was another Addy on their hands who couldn't stand to be touched. It made him sick to think that the Institute was making these creatures so young... it was a whole new level of hatred that they could stoop to using children.

Puck fell back into his seat with a grunt. The child was pissed to say the least, his catch taken away from him, as well as his chance at moving up a rank, as well as Ezi still being annoying with his continuous breathing. Puck was truly seething, and, as the vehicle flew, he sat in a silence that even disturbed him. He was grinding his teeth again, flinching as he became aware of the sensitivity of his chipped tooth.

"As Long as this never goes away I am fine. This is wonderful, they never give me anything so...good." He lays there with his eyes closed, barely moving. "I am Eeonus, and I don't belong here. I am an upper level, person...and I um, have dyed hair and weird clothing?..." Eeonus said, completely incapable of lying. He was having a really hard time caring at this point about his mission, and about points of secrecy he should have been keeping. Come to think of it, he should know some sort of code or something to contact the agency, but he wasn't really paying attention when they were trying to teach him that. He was mostly looking at the centipede crawl from his instructors eye into his nose and out his ear. He pressed the tiny control on his neck to try and recontact main control, but the signal just came up as static, loud enough for everyone to hear. "Eeonus, respond. Eeonus to fuck, whoever." His hand fell back to his side. "Who wants to go back to that cesspool anyway. Fucking Bastards!" At this point, he rolls over on to his side, and curls his body around in a half fetal position; forgetting that others are even there.

The Vehicle docked, in it's designated port. "Okay everyone, foot soldiers report to base command. All Seeds, report to your Watchers. I am going to see General Steele." Ezi walked off the ships ramp, and went straight for the general's quarters.

Addy snarled to herself. The impertinence of some people! Stupid Seedling thought of the upper level as a cesspool... what must he think of them. She stroked her gun thoughtfully. Her thoughts whirled around her head in a rare moment of lucid solitude. She stepped to the side of the now prone and quiet Seedling, "Get up. Now." She clenched her jaw and twitched her leg out to marginally nudge the child's side. "Myles, get this kid loaded back to H.Q. we need to plan." With that she walked away. Didn't even bother to look back. It wasn't that she trusted in Myles' skills as a leader, she just didn't care. That, and she was a bit concerned that this new medication cocktail might not last what with her damn metabolism. Besides, she thought, I'm hungry.

Eeonus grunted and put a hand to his rib. "Whats going on?" He said in a groggy distant tone.

Eyes wide and a grin returning to his face for the first time since they were below, Puck finally realized that this was his chance to finally gain the credit he deserved, after all he did subdue the rogue seed, and maybe get Ezi's promotion. He was faster then him, Puck could simply blink to the general's office before Ezi would even get up the ramp. Puck blinked and appeared right in front of the general's desk, startling the older man, for Puck never visited him. His office was large, the walls white and a dark blue carpet. Behind him was a picture window that faced outward to look beyond the outer walls of the city. Hanging on the wall next to him were various framed papers, news clippings and cases with awards and metals hung in them. Everything in the office was about Steele and screamed of order and perfection.
"General, I'm here to report." Steele looked at him with an unamused expression.
"Where is your commanding officer 7-9801-2602-996?" The general refused to call any of the the seedlings by their adopted names, only by their numbers. The question was in reference to Ezi's absence.
"I'm the one who subdued the rogue seed." There was no 'Sir' attached to the beginning or the end of the statement and Steele's expression was even less amused.

Ezi's projection moved into the room, as Ezi leaned against the wall within. He could hear puck talking inside, and his scowl deepened. Now what is that disgusting excuse for a seed doing! He heard the lack of respect in Puck's tone. Of course it was still much nicer than anything he ever got, but he wondered how the general would handle it. Ezi shifted his position to make it look as though he knew the General was meeting with someone, and Ezi was merely patiently waiting to be seen; meanwhile he hovered in line with Steele's desk waiting to view his reaction.
